Dutch provinces agree to invest in Environment
Plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions, increase sustainable energy
All 12 Dutch provinces have signed an accord with Environment Minister Jacqueline Cramer agreeing to invest at least €200 million over the next two years in environmental improvement projects.
The Dutch government have set goals of greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced by 30 percent by 2020, and that, 20 percent of energy should be from sustainable sources.
The agreement also sets a goal of reducing the number of car miles driven during the rush hour by 5 percent, and that roads should be lit only by low-energy lighting.
